UK wholesale power and gas prices have slumped between 16% and 18% in under a week as the NBP gas market sheds much of the risk premium which dominated the market over the past month ahead of milder temperatures and renewed LNG deliveries.

Baseload electricity on the prompt power market reached four-year highs in the final weeks of March as NBP gas prices breached the 100 p/th mark, but as temperatures return to the seasonal norms and LNG deliveries resume prices are beginning to return to levels more consistent with this time of year, UK traders have said.
