British prompt gas prices rose on Thursday as exports to Europe surged and supplies from Norway fell, making the system short of gas.

Gas for immediate delivery rose 2 pence to 59 pence-per-therm as supply fell short of demand, while day-ahead gas traded 1.8 pence higher at 58.50 pence.
Britain exported 56 million cubic meters/day (mcm/day) to Belgium on Thursday, as continental buyers snapped up comparatively cheaper gas from the UK.
Benchmark summer 2012 gas was little changed at 66.45 pence.
